Cave/Vertical Specialty Team
Team Overview -
The
Cave/Vertical Team is comprised of approximately 20 active team members with a
variety of professional and recreational experiences. Team members include a
physician, one structural engineer, seven paramedics, seven EMTs,
five first
responders and other professionals and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the
community. All operational team members have attended a number of rescue
courses, including NCRC Level I and II, AMSAR (now PEAK Rescue) Level I and
Level II, TARS or IADRS Swiftwater I & II & ERT Confined Space Rescue. In
addition to the formal training most team members are active members of the
recreational caving, climbing and outdoor communities, providing the team with a
vast knowledge and skill set to pull from during rescue operations.
Team Purpose
- To be a quality provider of cave and cliff
rescue services to the citizens of Knoxville, Knox County, East Tennessee and
the Southeastern Region. The Team also strives to provide technical support and
resources during flood and swift water incidents, trench and/or building
collapses, wilderness search operations and industrial/confined space
incidents.
